The most effective application is to use Detect-OR to sort O-rings of 60 to 80 Durometer, within their shelf life, unused and undamaged before their installation; the said O-rings can be sorted when they are already known to be either FKM, FFKM, Nitrile or EPDM.
HOW DETECT-OR WORKS:
Before proceeding, place the O-ring on a stable table or surface.
Place the Detect-OR vertically over the O-ring and raise the controlled weight inside the stainless steel tubolar structure all the way to the top of the tube. Then release the weight. It will drop onto the O-ring and it will bounce: the height of the first bounce will determine the composition of the O-ring, wich can be seen by the calibrated ranges marked with the name of the rubber compound.
